Top Claude Code skills, ranked from GitHub every day

A daily list of the 15 most-starred Claude Code skills on GitHub: which are moving this week and this month, what each does and how to install it.

NewsIn the docs: Top Claude Code skillsHow the list is ranked

GitHub has a great many repositories calling themselves Claude Code skills, and their stars only tell you so much. A repository keeps its stars long after it goes quiet, and stars can be farmed. So which skills are worth installing, and which are people picking up now? The top Claude Code skills is our answer: the 15 repositories with the most stars that ship a SKILL.md file and pass checks for both of those problems, read again from the GitHub API every day.

The Top Claude Code skills page: the All time, This week and This month tabs, the filters, and the first three repositories, each with its description, category, type, forks gained this week, star count and licence
The list on 16 October. Each row says what the skill does, how many forks it gained this week and how its rank moved since the day before.

Why it matters which one you pick

A skill is instructions, and often scripts, that Claude loads into your session when a task calls for them, and it works with the same access your Claude Code has. So it is worth knowing that someone still looks after it, and on what terms you may use it. The list leaves out anything with no commit in six months and anything without a licence GitHub can detect. Each skill's page shows its licence, contributors and latest release, and its commits and people committing this week and this month. The list does not review a skill's code, so read what you install.

How it is ranked

The page has three tabs, each ordering the same 15. All time goes by total stars. This week and This month score the last 7 and 30 days instead: forks gained count for half, commits and active contributors for a fifth each, and a release for the rest. Once the daily snapshots reach back far enough to cover a window, stars gained join the score. GitHub's API gives no date for a star, which is why momentum starts with forks, since each fork carries the day it was made.

Candidates come from repositories tagged with one of six skill topics, and from every repository linked in five curated lists, among them anthropics/claude-plugins-official and hesreallyhim/awesome-claude-code. The lists find candidates and never decide a rank.

What is left out

Forks, archived repositories, anything with no commit in six months, anything that ships no SKILL.md, and repositories with no licence GitHub can detect. A repository with no licence at its root stays if at least 90% of its skill folders carry their own, and its licence then reads "Per skill". Star farms are out as well, meaning at least 1,000 stars with forks under 1% and watchers under 0.1% of them, and so is a repository whose README shows it is something other than skills. The method page lists every repository left out with more stars than the last one listed, and why.

A page for each skill

Every entry has its own page. It shows the stars, contributors, latest release and licence, and where the repository ranks this week and this month, with the forks, commits, people committing and releases behind that rank. Below that is what the skill does, written from its README and the files it ships, the command that installs it in Claude Code, and charts of its forks and commits over time.

The page for anthropics/skills: its rank, description, category and type, then its stars, contributors, latest release and licence, and its forks, commits, people committing and releases this week and this month
A skill's own page, here anthropics/skills, with the install command and charts further down.

On the list you can search, filter by type (a single skill, a skill pack or a plugin) and by category, and sort by stars, by this week's trend, by newest or by most recently updated. The address keeps your choices, so you can share a filtered view.

The same list is the README of selan-ai/top-claude-code-skills, replaced with each day's list.

To put one of these skills in front of every developer at once, a Selan owner needs one switch: it makes a plugin marketplace's skills appear in every developer's Claude. See how it works.

How it works today. A post says what changed on its day; the docs say how Selan works now.
